Anchor Text

Anchor text is the visible text found on a hyperlink. It is also known as "link text" or "linked text." Anchor text links can be hyperlinks that are main keywords, secondary keywords or even a company brand.
The term anchor text has gotten a lot of usage in the past few years. When most people in the link building field refer to anchor text, a lot of times it is in the context of how to optimize it to rank well in Google's search engine. One of the primary algorithms behind Google's calculations for ranking a website is the anchor text of the links pointing to a given website.
Anchor Text Optimization is one of the key techniques used when building text links.
